Fever Ray: Triangle Walks 2009 The pleasure that comes from working with Karin Dreijer Andersson's voice is a serious one, and this is the third time we have had that chance. This track is a pretty special one, with a great steel drum melody that just needed to be repeated (in the original mix it's only used at the end!!! WHAT????). So we repeated it, and reframed the song around it. The vocal melodies are quite dark, and we lean towards bright sometimes, so this was a good blend we thought... It's slow, which is possibly annoying for a DJ, but you can only speed up a voice so far before you lose the beauty. When you're drunk and you're using Ableton Live, the remix can be played much faster. |

Tiga: Shoes 2009 In March 2009, we threw a party that ended up with me getting sick and breaking 3 ribs from coughing. Two results: 1/ Rex had to stay with friends for a while 2/ I was many weeks late delivering this remix for Tiga. By the time I delivered it, the single had been and gone. Ooopps!!!!! It's still a remix, so it's still on here. We play it sometimes, it has a looney PRO 1 synth line. Bit silly really. But that might have been the painkillers (dihydrocodeine and something blue with a lot of warnings on the packet). Music coming soon...

Robyn: Who's That Girl? 2008 More Swedish pop, something about Sweden is really quite good no? We met Robyn and went to her apartment which was lots of fun, she made us tea, hot for me, cold for Rex (actually Rex didn't come...). This remix is 100% analog and quite slow so only for playing in tolerant and excellent clubs. In our opinion. Which is always right. Or wrong. One or the other. |

Goldfrapp: Happiness 2008 Hmmm, this one went all a bit strangely. We made the remix and we were really happy with it, lots of hard work and searching for melodies, but it didn't get approved by the band and so it didn't get a release. The new melody inside the remix is the SH1 synthesiser, and because we liked this, and the remix in general, we made our own video
for it.

Lopazz: We Are 2008 For this remix we tried out the TB303 again, then the the Juno 106 for the riff. The TB303 is a bit of a nightmare to program, so most of the time was spent persuading it to play the 3 different basslines that we wanted. Then things went a bit Harold Faltermeyer due to innate tendencies going unchecked.... We are proud that this came out on Get Physical, the label is a super one. |
|
Röyksopp: Beautiful Day Without You 2006 We started to make this remix as a very acid experiment thing, but we had to throw it in the dust cart because it went wrong. It surprised us by turning out to be quite a tricky one. In the end we managed to cram lots of TB303 and zaps into it, and it goes wibble wibble biggle doo bip. |

The Knife: Marble House 2006 The Knife are back and they are even better than before, their album Silent Shout is full of pleasing things and we love them. Check out this album, especially 'We Share Our Mother's Health' and 'Like A Pen'. And of course 'Marble House'! With this remix we tried to support the song but make it work for dancing. |
|
The Sounds: Tony The Beat 2006 It's big and it's clever. This song is the greatest thing we heard in 2006. We played a show with our friend Spencer Product and when he played this, we came running: 'WHAT IS THIS!!! ???' The band allowed us remix it and we are lucky that they are now planning to release our remix. We didn't change much, we just made it synthy. Here was a clip of the track, performed by Rex and his friend Punk Monkey after a few too many banana daiquiris...

Soulwax: E Talking 2005 This tune was super difficult to remix because the vocals were mega-distorted and there were exactly 100 tonnes of guitars present. We did a mix that used all the vocals and guitars but it did not really work and the band did not care for it. So, we turned the synthesizers on and did a second mix and tried to make it disco-shiny. This time the band said yes. We were relieved! |
||
Mylo: Drop The Pressure 2005 This tune is so well known that we were feeling a bit wobbly all the time we were making it. We tried 5 million different ways of remixing the tune and we thought that maybe it was the end of Rex. In the end we went on holiday for 3 days and came back and started again. A guy on an internet forum said of it: 'You can tell Rex is on autopilot already' . Yay! Success! (And now we plan to do a tune called AUTOPILOT).

Depeche Mode: Photographic 2004 Our remix is included on the new album Remixes 81...04. and all the time we were making it, we were paralysed with fear and honour The song Photographic is from Depeche Mode's first album Speak And Spell which was first released in 1981 when we were children. The music on Speak And Spell is one the greatest things of all time. |

Client: Radio 2004 Client are 2 mysterious electronic ladies who dress like air-hostesses. Client have a web page too. A guy in a magazine said this remix is disappointing and 'too much like Jan Hammer'. We do not understand this, to sound like Jan Hammer can only be a positive ?

The Prodigy: Girls 2004 I saw The Prodigy play in concert 3 times before Rex was born and at night I tell him of those days. In my main memory I stayed too close to the Prodigy speakers and I had to see the doctor, because my hearing did not return for 2 weeks. Our remix is on the B-side of the single Hotride. |
||
The Knife: Heartbeats 2004 This was Rex's first remix. The Knife are a kick-ass band from Sweden. Their album Deep Cuts is full of emotion, melody and electrical sounds. It is our favourite album since the 90s. When you realise that your favourite albums are all from 1980s and early 1990s it is renewing to find new songs like these in 2004. |
